The Dichotomy of Hope

By Daniel Garner

"And thou shalt be bold, because there is hope: and thou shalt dig pits, and shalt lie down safely.  For when thou takest thy rest, none shall make thee afraid: yea, many shall make suit unto thee." - Job 11: 18-19 (GNV)

" God shall be my hope, my stay, my guide, and my lantern at my feet” - William Shakespeare

Letting go of something weighing you down is not giving up. It is not that you've stopped caring.

It's because you care that you need to let go.

Pain and grief are the forebears of regret and ache; depression and sleepless nights their byproduct.

Not feeling one of those things doesn't mean that you've stopped caring or even that you never cared. It's hard, really hard, to accept that sometimes. And that's okay.

Because sometimes all we need is a reminder of who we really are!

Never, EVER accept that you can't do something because "that's just the way it is."

There is never not anything you can't do.

If you won't accept someone telling themselves "No way, I can't do this" or "This is to hard" then don't accept it in yourself. No matter how hard it is.

Because you don't have to!

Pain brings with it raw emotion and often times that translates to how we act and react in our lives. The dichotomy of hope is more than just black and white, despair and aspiration. It's a spectrum of love, faith, pursuits of dreams, pleading for mercies and desires to serve.

Job 11: 18-19 (GNV) says "And thou shalt be bold, because there is hope: and thou shalt dig pits, and shalt lie down safely.  For when thou takest thy rest, none shall make thee afraid: yea, many shall make suit unto thee."

There is always hope!

Always believe in the best of you, the best of you that sometimes you don't see a lot. But that doesn't matter, it's still within you.

That compassion you feel, that hurt and uncertainty of everyday pains is not a weakness, but a strength! Because it shows that you can feel, and if you can feel then you can fight. You can fight demons in your dreams and demons while you're working.

But they don't control you!

All they can do is haunt vainly from the background of your life, screaming for your attention so they can sap your strength. But you know what?

THEY DON'T MATTER.

They do not control you.

They are powerless against you. You don't need them and they will be fine without you today as they wither away from your inattention.

The Takeaway: Today, remember the best of yourself. Throw away that uncertainty you feel about knowing who you are. Because today you know who you are, and that is the best of yourself. That giant of kindness. The colossus of strength. Today is your chance to be magnificent, free of any burdens and moving without weights holding you down.

Today: Just a sprint. Just for today.

And see the difference it makes not only in your life, but all those around you!
