The Endurance of Dreams

By Daniel Garner

"For nothing will be impossible with God" - Luke 1: 37 (ESV)

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them" - Walt Disney

Being in the military, a lot of Soldiers feel the need to out-ego each other sometimes.

One says “I have a combat patch!” and another says “Yeah, well I’ve got one from the Big Red 1!” and so on and so on. Whenever I was deployed overseas we hopped often in between Kuwait and Iraq. And a lot of times the Soldiers in Kuwait wanted to be in Iraq where the action was and the Soldiers in Iraq wanted to be in Kuwait where the Hard Rock Café and Olympic-sized swimming pool was.

Don’t feel inferior because your accomplishments “aren’t as good” as someone else’s in your (or their) eyes. Own them. Be proud of what you’ve done, whatever that is, no matter what anyone else may tell you.

Our dreams and goals are the same way.

Every one of us has dreams that we aspire to and inspire us to drive forward with our lives. Just like our accomplishments, they are unique to us. Dreams are beautiful, wonderful and amazing constructs in our minds eye. They give us strength, help us to bounce back from pitfalls and setbacks and help guide our decisions.

They are yours, unique. Be proud of them and of yourself!

Our dreams can be beautiful creations. As we go about our lives it's good every so often to stop and take just a moment to find beauty in the small things, wherever we may be. It's also a good thing to take a moment and find what makes our dreams unique.

Wherever you may be, at work or at home or wherever, you CAN find peace not only in beauty but in our dreams and goals. There’s always something beautiful to see. All we have to do is keep our eyes open and not shut out of fear or trepidation or others telling us that we're foolish.

The Takeaway: Never underestimate yourself, your dreams, or the capability of God to answer them. Never stop dreaming and never stop hoping. There's always hope, and just like there's always hope there is always God to guide us in that hope. Be strong and hope, even when it's difficult.

Especially when it's difficult.

If we can do that (and we CAN do that) then we can not only be a good example to others of our Father in Heaven, but also to to inspire others that their dreams are also worthwhile and important!
